I would propose that God is not raising up Elijah’s, Daniel’s, Esther’s, John the Baptists, or David’s.
God is raising up people who will be like Christ. He has not commissioned us to be like Anna or Joseph, He’s commissioned us to be ambassadors of Christ.
We are a body with many parts, but it is the body of Christ. The call is to be imitators of God, not imitators of a ministry or your pastor or another scriptural figure.
It’s wise to be an imitation of the Master, rather than being a copy of a copy of a copy…
Jesus said ‘follow Me’, He didn’t say, ‘follow John’ or ‘follow Martha’ or ‘follow David’. He’s the [only] Way to go.
It’s a lot simpler and less confusing :)
